阿炳,原名华彦钧,民间音乐家,1893年生,无锡东亭小四房人。阿炳幼年丧母，由同族婶母抚养。8岁随父在雷尊殿当小道士。开始在私塾读了3年书，后从父学习鼓、笛、二胡、琵琶等乐器。12岁已能演奏多种乐器，并经常参加拜忏、诵经、奏乐等活动。18岁时被无锡道教音乐界誉为演奏能手。21岁患眼病，家贫无力医治，35岁双目失明，在无锡沿街卖唱和演奏乐器为生，常自编自唱时事新闻。每天下午在崇安寺三万昌茶馆门前围场演唱。无锡沦陷后，阿炳到老家无锡东亭和江阴北涸国避难，不久赴上海，在昆曲班仙霓社担任琴师，弹奏三弦。

1939年，华彦钧重返无锡城，再旧业。阿炳纯粹靠演唱来维持生活，他从来没有做过向人乞怜的样子，他在黑暗、贫困中挣扎了几十年，他对痛苦生活的感受，通过他的音乐反映出来，没有因为生活艰难困苦而潦倒，庸俗，相反，他的音乐透露出一种来自人民底层的建康而深沉的气息。阿炳用他的生命凝成了《二泉映月》等不朽作品。
